Super Eagles talisman Victor Osimhen may sign a new contract before the end of the season as President Aurelio De Laurentiis met with the player’s agent twice last week.
De Laurentiis, Osimhen, and his agent Roberto Calenda were all in Naples at the end of this working week. There was a new face in town as well, as Walter Mazzarri conducted his first training sessions since taking over from the recently departed Rudi Garcia.
In positive news for Napoli fans, Tuttomercatoweb reports that Osimhen and the new coach got on well from the first interactions.
Osimhen is, however, out of contract at the end of next season. His current deal expires in the summer of 2025, but Napoli is desperate for him to sign off on a renewal before the end of this season to avoid entering the final year of his contract in 2024-25.
A host of the World’s most elite and most wealthy clubs are thought to be circling in the event that Osimhen does enter the final year of his contract this summer.
Osimhen’s agent was in Naples again on Thursday and Friday, certainly not for the first time in recent months, and it is believed that a renewal would have been the most important topic of conversation with those he spoke to.
Osimhen, meanwhile, resumed training for the first time in several weeks, having picked up an injury while away on international duty with Nigeria in October.
Napoli players have been granted the weekend off by new coach Mazzarri, and will take to the pitch again on Monday.
