Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched a mobile application to aid voting process for deaf voters during the election period.

According to report, AssistALL, a free sign language interpreter application, will aid in the dissemination of election and voter information to the community in preparation for the elections.

IEBC stated:

“We have partnered with assistALL, a sign language interpreting application to enable everyone to access important information on elections.

“Kenyans need to download the assistALL application from Google Play store, register on the application as a deaf person, go to the Corporate tab and click on IEBC. Click on a sign language in green and make a video call for free to get voter information on elections.”

The Director of Voter Registration and Electoral Operations, Rasi Masudi, said campaign will start in Nairobi where four caravan trucks will traverse the county before joining the rest in Kisumu, Nakuru and Mombasa cities.

“The caravan will engage voters and answer any queries within the four cities and several towns along 13 regional roads across the country.
“Each caravan will have IEBC staff led by County Election Managers and all other stakeholders,” Masudi explained.
