As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a non-governmental organisation, Women Supporting Women Network has called on the Federal, State Governments at all levels to end violence against women particularly girls.

This year’s global theme is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls.”

Founder of the group, Mrs Toyin Omozuwa in a statement personally signed in Abuja said the violation of human rights has been perpetuated for decades, adding that it’s pervasive, but it’s not inevitable unless we stay silent.

Omozuwa said: “The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is observed on November 25, every year.

Women Supporting Women Network, (WSWN), joins the world to call for an end to violence against women and girls.

“We, therefore call on all men, women, boys and girls to kindly play their part in ending violence against women and girls.

“Support all efforts to accelerate its elimination from our schools, families, workplace, religious institutions and communities.

“Join us on this #16Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence to speak out and break the cycle of abuse, promote a culture of respect, eliminate gender stereotypes, increase awareness, galvanise advocacy efforts and support.”
