Head Coach of the Nigeria U-20 side, Ladan Bosso has blamed the semi-final loss to Gambia on an Ugly tactical approach by their opponent.

Flying Eagles failed to push on a record eight AFCON crown after a seventh-minute goal from Gambian forward Bojang sent the seventh-time champions out of the race for the title at the Cairo International Stadium on Monday night.

After conceding in the 7th minute of the encounter, the Flying Eagles went on to donate all proceedings, before striker Abdullahi missed a penalty kick in the 86th minute after a VAR check.

Despite the Gambian playing the last six minutes with a man down, Nigeria couldn’t break their defence which had not conceded a goal in the tournament.

According to Pulse sports, the head coach of the Flying Eagles blamed the defeat on the ugly style of play from their semi-final opponent.

“Sometimes playing ugly is a tactic, all you need is to dispossess your opponent of the ball, score & defend it. Sometimes (it is all about) tactics. You can play ugly and win, we played better than Senegal in our first match but they still won,” Bosso cries.

Despite the defeat, Nigeria will still be in Egypt with the Flying Eagles having a chance to settle for a bronze medal when they face Tunisia who also ceased out in the semis.
