Former Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen thanks everyone for their support after his collapse and admitted that ‘died for five minutes’ on the pitch during UEFA EURO 2020.

The Denmark international was playing in the European Championship game with Finland in June when he suddenly collapsed.
His heart had stopped and he needed cardiac massage on the pitch from the medical staff before he was finally revived, Simon Kjaer and his teammates creating a human shield to protect prying eyes from the potential tragedy unfolding live on television.

Eriksen, who had to leave Inter because Italian rules forbid someone from taking part in professional sport with an implanted defibrillator, is now back in training in Switzerland and thanked everyone for their support.

“It was weird, because I didn’t expect people to send flowers because I’d died for five minutes. It was quite extraordinary, but very nice of everyone.

“People still write to me. I’ve thanked people I’ve met in person, I’ve thanked the doctors, my teammates and their families in person.
“But all the fans who’ve sent thousands of letters and emails and flowers, or who’ve come up to me in the street in Italy and Denmark, I thank them all for the support I got from all over the world that helped me through this.”
