Stop Being Stupid, Pep Tells Grealish

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has insisted record signing Jack Grealish should stop being ‘stupid’ about his poor goalscoring record.

England international Grealish recently revealed that he has spoken to his manager about what he feels is a poor record, scoring just four times for City, since his British transfer record £100million move from Aston Villa in the summer.

Boss Guardiola is not fazed by his star signings lack of goals as he feels he is making an impact for his side and at the end of the day it’s a team game.

City currently tops the Premier League and remains in the FA Cup and Champions League. “If he is frustrated about his number of goals, he is a stupid man,” Guardiola insisted.

“That is not necessary to be frustrated about scoring goals. He has to play, and play good and try to do his best, that’s all he has to do. If he scores a goal, good. If not, next game.”

Guardiola added: ‘Statistics, statistics. I’m happy, I’m good, if I score ten goals and after I am 20 points behind the leaders.

‘The important thing is to play good, help the team to win and be part of something that we are a unit and all together.

‘Of course, I want to score 20 goals like Grealish or 30 or 40, but if he doesn’t do it, it doesn’t matter. It’s play good or not play good.

‘If you did everything and did your best, honestly go and take a shower after the game. If you did your best in every single action, it’s enough.’

Despite backing Grealish, Guardiola recently suggested that City will swoop for a striker this summer, with Erling Haaland and Harry Kane closely linked to the champions.
