Nigeria Women Football League champions, Delta Queens, started their campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League playoff on a good note with a sound victory over USFA.
Playing at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin, the Nigerian team proved to be the better side from the blast of the whistle and got their opening goal in the 5th minute through Fajola Olabiyi.
Delta Queens were unable to add to their tally until the 62nd minute when Chinaza Agor netted from Mercy Idoko’s assist.
The hosts were reduced to 10 players after Vera Samuel was sent off for a dangerous attack.
The reduction did not affect the strength of the Nigerian side as Idoko wrapped up the game in the 79th minute with the third goal.
The victory took Delta Queens to the top of the group as they await their final group match.
