The up-and-coming rapper MoneySign Suede has died after being stabbed in a California prison.

The 22-year-old rapper was found unresponsive in the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, where he was serving time. Prison officials discovered that Suede was missing during a headcount check on Tuesday, April 25, around 9:55 p.m. Despite attempts by prison personnel to administer emergency aid, Suede was pronounced dead around 10:00 p.m.

Following the incident, prison officials have restricted prisoner movement while they investigate with assistance from the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office and the Monterey County Coroner, who will determine the cause of death.

Nicholas Rosenberg, MoneySign’s attorney, told the Los Angeles Times that the rapper was stabbed in the neck in the shower, and that those who knew him were shocked.

MoneySign Suede, who signed with Atlantic Records in 2021, had released his most recent album “Parkside Baby” last September. He was imprisoned at the facility after being sentenced in Riverside County last December to serve two years and eight months on two charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a gun.
