Rwanda and Ukraine have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish political consultations between the two nations.

The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, May 25, and was attended by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta, and Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, following a bilateral meeting.

Minister Kuleba’s visit to Rwanda was part of his second Africa tour, which commenced with a visit to Morocco on May 22.

The purpose of his tour was to garner support from African countries for the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, facilitate uninterrupted exports within the Black Sea region, and create new opportunities for Ukrainian businesses.

According to the Ukrainian Presidency, Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula encompasses ten specific points, ranging from nuclear safety to the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, energy security, and the repatriation of all prisoners of war and deportees held in Russia.

Taking to his Twitter page, Minister Kuleba shared that he had discussed President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and food security with Minister Biruta.

He further expressed their intention to enhance cooperation in various sectors such as trade, digitalization, aerospace, construction, education, and pharmaceuticals.

Additionally, Minister Kuleba announced Ukraine’s plans to open an embassy in Rwanda, solidifying their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

The signing of the MoU marks an important step in deepening the political ties between Rwanda and Ukraine, paving the way for increased cooperation and collaboration across various sectors for the mutual benefit of both nations.
