The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast is set to be played by 23 teams as the Syli Stars of Guinea faces expulsion.

Guinea risks being excluded from this major event in African football as a result of the refusal of statutory members to vote to elect a new president, as a sign of protest against the rejection of a specific candidacy.

The World Soccer Governing Body has sent a warning to the Guinea Football Federation to quickly resolve the crises or face heavy sanctions.

In group C, the Guinean team will face renowned opponents, Senegal, current African champion, Gambia, quarter-finalist during the last AFCON, and Cameroon, five-time winner of the tournament.
