CAF Super Cup: USM Algiers Edge Al Ahly In Saudi Arabia

It was a surprise result in the CAF Super Cup held in Saudi Arabia on Friday evening as USM Algiers of Algeria thumped Champions League champions, Al Ahly of Egypt.

The Algerian side qualified to play in the Super Cup after they defeated Yanga SC of Tanzania in the final of the Confederation Cup while Ahly beat Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

African soccer governing body took the Super Cup to Saudi Arabia and it was the Algerian club that came out top.

Playing at the King Fahd International Stadium, the game was keenly contested but Zinedine Belaid’s penalty in the 43rd minute decided the game.

The Egyptian side pressed so hard in the second half but was unable to level the game as it ended 1-0 in favour of USM Algiers.
