The end seems not to be in sight as regards the doping case involving Nigeria’s track star Tobi Amusan and the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

Just before the World Athletics championship in Budapest, Hungary, Amusan was provisionally suspended after she failed to undergo a compulsory doping test.

But she was later cleared to compete in Budapest and she was unable to defend her title.

AIU on Monday confirmed that they have commenced a legal battle with Nigerian International and the matter has been taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sports ( CAS).

“The AIU filed an appeal last Friday (15 September 2023) with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Disciplinary Tribunal’s decision, dated 17 August 2023, that Tobi Amusan did not commit an anti-doping rule violation for Whereabouts Failures.

The AIU will make no further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the appeal”, the statement said.
