Gbenga Ogunbote has given reasons why Shooting Stars have gone five games unbeaten in the Nigeria Premier Football League, earning 10 points from three wins and two draws.

He hinted after the Oluyole Warriors put three goals from Malomo Taofeek (41′), Godwin Alao (47′), and Douglass Archiv (65′), past Gombe United in a Matchday 15 fixture at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday.

Ogunbote attributed the team’s recent good run to hard work, understanding between the players as well as solutions proffered on the grey areas noticed during the first round of the abridged league season.

“There is no magic to it, other than hard work, aside from that the players are getting used to each other and we noticed some grey areas which we tried to make amends.”

On the tactics adopted against the Savannah Scorpions who couldn’t sting the Oluyole Warriors as went on to take all three points and kept a clean sheet, the former Remo Stars coach gave a hint.

“The players knew the importance of the game, we have four matches to go, no matter what happens, we want to finish on a high note, we need to finish in an appreciable position.

“If you look at the team’s play, we were wasteful a little bit in the first half, the game would have been wrapped up in the first 45 minutes, but be that as it may, it was a game of minds. The players wanted more and got the deserved win and thank God we were able to create chances and converted three of them.”

When asked if a Super Six spot was still possible, the Oracle, as the gaffer is called by his fans, insists that an appreciable finish at the end of the season was the main goal for now but added, “If it comes, we will take it.”

The 3 points shoot 3SC to the 5th position on the Group A log with 21 points from 15 matches
