Nigerian lethal ‘goal-machine’ Victor Osimhen risks been suspended for Napoli in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Osimhen was in good form for Partenopei, which picked up their first three points of the European campaign with a 2-1 win away at Braga on Wednesday.

The Nigerian who capped his performance with a Man of the Match award for his assist, got a yellow card on the night.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, what may come as a concern for Napoli in Europe, however, is the risk of suspension to key players, as six yellow cards were dished out on Wednesday.

Those who now run the risk of suspension include Victor Osimhen, Matteo Politano, Giacomo Raspadori, Frank Zambo Anguissa, Mathia Olivera and Juan Jesus.

Next up for Napoli in the Champions League is the visit of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid at the beginning of October.

Meanwhile, Napoli boss Rudi Garcia has charged Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to be a fighter like Osimhen.

After the 2-1 win over Braga, Garcia spoke about the winger in the press conference and stated: “He needs to play and find the rhythm, he also participated in the first goal with the cross for Di Lorenzo’s goal.”

Osimhen was also sparkling last season and while he future was in doubt, he ended up staying. Garcia also spoke about the Nigerian’s situation and his form.

“Then there is Osimhen who has fought and ran: that’s what I expect from all my players, when we defend we all defend together.”

Osimhen, unlike Kvaratskhelia, has been amongst the goals more often. The 24-year-old has three Serie A goals in four games.
