AFCON 2023: Gusau Expresses Optimism, Charges Super Eagles To Win 4th Title

President Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, has expressed hopes on the Nigeria’s Super Eagles winning the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, following the conclusion of the draw on Thursday.

Gusau, in his address to the Super Eagles before the international friendly match against Saudi Arabia, which ended in a 2-2 draw in Portugal, the NFF boss charged the team to go all out and win the AFCON next year.

“AFCON will surely commence in January by the grace of God, which you are also going to be part of it.

“You have seen our group, which we have even found ourselves with the host country, but that is not the case, we are going there to win the trophy, so we are ready to meet any country along the road.”

Gusau also assured that the players, in collaboration with the entire technical crew will be exposed to a conducive camping before the team will embark on the trip to Abidjan for the commencement of the tournament.

“We are making every arrangements to use the available time we have before the commencement of the nations cup to ensure that we have good preparation in the area of camping in a very conducive place before we’ll move to Abidjan.

“That I can assure you we will do our best in collaboration with your coach and other handlers to ensure we get you a befitting place where you can camp before the commencement of the tournament,” he stated.

Nigeria will face host nation Cote D’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau in group A of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
