President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has said the Technical Committee of the Federation will determine whether the duo of Jose Peseiro and Randy Waldrum, Super Eagles’ and Super Falcons coaches respectively, will continue as national team coaches.

Gusau stated this in Abuja on Tuesday during a peace parley between the NFF and the House Committee on Sports which was held at Room 305 at the House of Representatives.

The NFF last Tuesday, 8th August named Sharif Inuwa as the Chairman of the Technical Committee while NFF Vice President, Felix Anyansi is the Vice Chairman. Aminu Balele Kurfi, Zanna Mala, Victor Ikpeba, Felix Awolabi and Yinka Olagbemiro are members.

Both Peseiro and Waldrum have been in charge of the senior male and female national football teams and the issues surrounding whether their respective contracts will be extended is not clear. While Peseiro has qualified Nigeria for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be hosted by Ivory Coast next year with a match to spare, Waldrum led the Falcons to a decent outing at the ongoing Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand where his team crashed out in the round of 16 against the Three Lionesses of England.

Gusau added that the Falcons were able to put up a good performance at the World Cup because the NFF was able to resolve some issues with Waldrum while promising that Nigerians will see positive changes in football administration in the country very soon.

“You are aware that we just set up the Technical Committee and very soon they are going to be inaugurated. They are going to come out with what we need to do about the coach of the Super Eagles. And that is all I’m going to say about it.

“If NFF did not resolve issue with Randy, we would not see the performance (of the Falcons) we saw at the World Cup. And the issue of whether Randy is going to continue with the Super Falcons are the issues that we are passing forward to the Technical Committee and which by the grace of God they are going to sit very soon and we look at those areas and come out with what you will hear about and whether Randy is continuing or not.

“I want to assure Nigerians that very soon they will see a lot of changes in the development of football so that a lot of sponsors will come back to us. All these issues of not paying match bonuses and the rest of it is because of sponsorship. By the grace of God, everything will be resolved and they (the committee) have agreed to work with us to see that we get to that destination.”
